Rescue Team takes delivery of new Landrover Ambulance.

After a number of years fundraising, the Team has successfully raised sufficient funds to enable it to replace its aging Landrover ambulance. The purpose built ambulance, based on a Landrover 110, allows the Team to respond to incidents in remote locations or during adverse weather conditions. The ambulance carries the specialist medical equipment used by the Team; including defibrillator, medical gases, and spinal splints along with the Teams rope rescue equipment. As always, the vehicle has been designed in such a way as to carry a casualty on the Teams Bell stretcher thus helping the speed of extraction from difficult and remote locations.

What Is An Incident ?

The Team is required to log details of all incidents attended and report them to the Mountain Rescue Council of England and Wales. Incidents tend to fall into three categories:
1) A Search - the Team is called out by the Police (or another Team) to search for a person or persons reported missing.
2) A Rescue - the Team is called to assist the Ambulance Service in evacuating a patient from a remote or inaccessible location.
3) Event Cover - the Team has on occasion assisted other organisations who run outdoors events in our area. We provide communication and search/rescue support for the event.
The incident summaries go back to the start of 1998 and should give you an idea of the sorts of things we deal with on a regular basis. As you'll see we come across a wide range of problems, and our training and equipment is continually evolving to cope with an ever-increasing workload.
