‘New’ instructors for the team and region

Three of our team members were across in North Wales over the weekend of 21/22/23 November to complete their assessment to qualify them as Mountain Rescue England and Wales (MREW) Module 2: Water First Responder instructors.  A further two were on the assessment weekend 38/29/30 November.

This training has been funded centrally by MREW, delivered by Outreach Rescue and qualifies team members to conduct a bespoke training package and certification to DEFRA module 2 standards when back in their teams and regions.

The course involved an initial weekend of training, development and assessment of existing skills followed by these assessment weekends.

The two days consisted of a packed continual assessment weekend with all candidates setting practical skills scenario, running the scenario, skills training sessions and classroom presentations.

We are delighted that all five passed the course and are now ready to start training out the new syllabus early in the new year providing an opportunity to establish common language and skills between teams and the statutory  emergency services

Well done to Jon, Paul, Gary, John and Ian.

Pictures are from the first weekend as they were a little too busy to take any during the assessments but we have promise of some which others found time to take.
