The team held the annual half marathon fundraiser on Sunday 11th May 2014.

Despite a threat of heavy showers we attracted an encouraging total of 134 entries. In the event the rain held off providing ideal conditions for the event.

The challenge starts from Ravenscar Village hall heading through the village and along the side of the Raven Hall Hotel before heading south down the coast path. After a couple of miles of undulating terrain the route turns inland before following the bed of the old Whitby to Scarborough railway to the outskirts of Cloughton. At this point runners follow tarmac road to the coast before the return leg back up the coast path to Ravenscar. This section has a number of cheeky hills with even more demanding steps on a number of the ascents/descents.

First male runner was back in a time of 1:25:15 with the first female not far behind in 1:46:43. A full set of results can be found on this page of the web site.

One aim of the day is to raise funds to help with the running of the team and the 24 x 7 voluntary search and rescue function we conduct in a large area of North Yorkshire and Humberside and we are delighted to report that the day raised around £1500 which will go direct to the operational support of the team.

There are a few pictures from the day below and a full set can be found on our Facebook page (/scarrescue) or at this link. There is also a set by Andrew here.

There is a great write up from Mike here.

As always we would like to thank all those who came out and supported this event and the team.  See you all next year or at the Saltergate circuit in October
